Lake County investigators said the human remains found near Okahumpka look like they are from an adult and don't appear to be related to the disapperance of Trenton Duckett, whose mother was last seen at a gas station nearby.
A passerby made the discovery Sunday around 7:45 p.m. Sunday off Austin Merritt Road, about eight miles north of Groveland near Okahumpka.
The Sheriff's Office said it is confident the remains are human. They don't know how long the remains have been in that location. They said a medical examiner would make that determination.
Deputies have cordoned off the area and searchers started looking for clues in the field where the bag of remains was found. K-9 deputies were also brought in to help in the search.
News 13 has been in touch with Team Trenton, the group affiliated with Trenton Duckett's father, Josh Duckett. They said Leesburg police told them the remains are not connected to Trenton's disappearance and that they do not plan in participating in the field search.
