A man and a woman accused of killing a Daytona Beach woman are expected to make their first appearances in court today.

Elizabeth Uptagrafft, 56-years old, was taken from her home on Michigan Avenue Sunday.

Police say two people forced their way inside, shot her, terrorized other family members in the house and then took off in the victim's car.

The suspects are 19-year-old Patricia Roosa, and 20-year-old Cornelius Baker. They were arrested in Flagler County after deputies say they used Uptagrafft's ATM card.

Roosa and Baker were both taken in for questioning. Police say that's when they told them where to find the body.

Chief Mike Chitwood said,  "I can tell you from what I know that this is a senseless random act of violence for lack of a better term, committed by someone who is an animal and I'll just leave it at that."

Stacey Firestone, Elizabeth Uptagrafft‘s daughter said, "She cared about everybody.  I don't know anybody who didn't know my mother who didn't love her because she was so kind and giving. If they knew one ounce of what was inside of her they would have never tried to hurt her."

Uptagraftt's son was also pistol-whipped in the ordeal. He is in the hospital under sedation

Both Roosa and Baker now face murder charges.

We are learning that the two people charged over the weekend are no strangers to law enforcement.

Investigators say 20-year-old Cornelius Baker shot and killed 56-year-old Elizabeth Uptagrafft in Bunnell when she tried to escape from her captors into a wooded area.

Baker was charged with felony burglary and grand theft when he was 16 and also was arrested in both 2005 and 2006.

Patricia Roosa, 19-years old, is also charged with felony murder. She had an active warrant out for dealing in stolen property from last August.

The suspects told investigators they targeted Uptagrafft's house on Michigan Avenue because of the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria that was outside.
