In the past few weeks, Governor Jeb Bush has all but passed the torch to governor elect Charlie Crist. Today, the transition becomes complete.
Crist will be sworn in at noon before an audience of thousands in front of the Old Capitol Building in Tallahassee.
Crist will not have an inaugural ball.
The governor elect cancelled it last month after receiving a half million-dollar donation for the event.
There was concern that it could lead to influence from businesses and special interests.
Even with out the ball, planners say there will be plenty of fun.
Meredith O'Rourke, Inaugural Committee Executive Director said, “There is across the state of Florida a general mood of enthusiasm, excitement, people from all different backgrounds, all different communities across the state are coming to Tallahassee and we're excited about welcoming them to Tallahassee to participate in the inaugural, it's the people's inaugural."
In canceling the ball, Crist also lowered the half million-dollar contribution limit to $10,000 per donor
