Daytona Beach grandmother Elizabeth Uptagrafft was kidnapped and murdered during a home invasion earlier this month.
Following her death members of the uptown neighborhood association gathered to learn lessons from police to stay safe.
Police offered tips on how to avoid being victimized.
Those gathered, including police, then walked the streets in a candlelight vigil honoring their slain neighbor.
Association member Tammy Anderson said, "What happened to her could happen possibly to me. And we have to, this is a way of saying that we have to pull together, watch out for each other for the crime that is in the area and let them know they're not gonna whip us."
Two people are behind bars in connection with Uptagrafft's murder.
