Local soldiers are anxiously awaiting their fate, as 20,000 troops are in the process of being deployed to Iraq.
Members of the Florida National Guard's 265th Air Defense Artillery in Daytona Beach could be part of that group.
As of right now, the only deployment on their calendar is a previously planned Homeland Security mission to Washington DC.
However, the soldiers not going to the nation's capital could head overseas.
Florida National Guard Captain Graig Turner said, "It's always a possibility, with the amount they're looking to bring over there, it would be piecemeal with other units."
The Florida National Guard says that of the 12,000men and women serving in the Guard, about 1,000 are on active duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.

The Naval spokesperson adds that they have made or exceeded their recruiting goals over the past year in this particular district.
