HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- A Riverview woman was arrested Wednesday after deputies said she signed contracts agreeing to adopt her unborn child to two families.
Tiffany Renee Palinsky, 22, is facing charges of grand theft in the third-degree, petit theft and sale of a minor child.
Investigators said earlier this summer she signed a contract with the Brandon Family Law Center, agreeing to allow the organization to handle the adoption of her unborn child. Between June 12 and July 7, investigators said the organization paid her $835 for clothes, food and other living expenses.
An attorney for the Brandon Family Law Center says it was her hunch that led to Pilansky's arrest.
"I had a conversation with her that led me to think she was confusing me with someone else" said attorney Mary Greenwood. And my wheels started to turn and I thought I better check up on the situation."
On July 20, the manager of the Brandon Family Law Center asked the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office to investigate after they learned Palinsky had signed a second agreement with Adoption Miracles, another adoption agency.
Investigators said Adoption Miracles had paid Palinsky $1,500.
Palinsky is being held at the Falkenburg Road Jail. No bond has been set. The sheriff's office is not releasing any information on where the baby is now.
