DELTONA -- In Volusia County, the U.S. Postal Service has started converting about 2,200 curbside mailboxes in Deltona to cluster mailboxes.
Many of the residents on some of the city's busiest streets will now have to walk an extra block or two to pick up their mail.
The postal service is making the change at the city's request.
City leaders said moving the boxes will beautify the streets, save money and improve traffic safety.
The project is expected to take three years. Disabled residents can contact the postal service and request mail delivery to their door.
