Law Firms Forgo Holiday Parties In Lieu Of Charities

ORLANDO -- The tough economy is already having its impact on the holidays.
Two well-known law firms are planning to cut their lavish holiday parties, but they're doing it for a good cause.
Both Foley & Lardner and GrayRobinson law firms announced Tuesday that they would forgo their swanky affairs in order to support some of their favorite charities.
"We got together as a partnership at our last partner's meeting and we discussed what we wanted to do and what we decided is the various departments in our firms would be allocated a certain amount of money that typically went to the holiday party, and they could each choose which charity they wanted to support," said Michael Gay from Foley & Lardner.
Some of the charities that will be receiving the donations are Christian Service Center, Seniors First and Quest.
