ORLANDO -- The University of Central Florida took a shot at breaking a Guinness World Record.
The university and Centra Care tried to break the world record for most seasonal flu vaccines given in one day. From noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday, administered 2,527 flu vaccines.
The current Guinness World Record is 3,271 flu shots given in one day, held by Centra Care and Get Healthy Florida.
The shots were for the annual seasonal flu and not for the H1N1 swine flu virus.
The first 500 adults and the first 500 children received their flu shot for free. The rest were given on a first come, first serve basis while supplies lasted.
Health experts said the best way to avoid the flu is to get vaccinated.
