Tennis players across the country are getting a new kind of workout. This one builds endurance and burns calories.

It's not aerobics and it's not a tennis lesson. It's a fast-paced workout called Cardio Tennis.
Hundreds of facilities across the country offer the hour-long class.
Certified Tennis Pro Rob Julian said, "It's going to help you get your heart rate up and increasing your lung capacity and as far as being a tennis player goes, being able to play tennis longer and at a faster pace."
From warming up to picking up balls, the players never stop moving. All that activity can be great for the waistline.
Cardio Tennis professional Heather Silvia said, "A lady burns anywhere from 300 to 600 calories and sometimes it's almost doubled for men."
Participants are given a heart monitor watch at the beginning of class so they can track their own progress.
Cardio Tennis player Grace Dunn said, "It's better than being inside working in a gym, you know, running in a neighborhood. It's a lot more fun.”
Cardio tennis is designed for a wide range of players from beginner to advanced. No matter what the level, instructors caution students to go at their own pace.
