When was the last time you had a good laugh? If you are a member of the 5,000 laughter clubs around the world, you might bust out laughing several times a week.
Dr. Madan Kataria, Laughter Yoga founder said, "As a physician, I would recommend that laughter is something we should make a part of our life everyday."
Doctor Kataria came up with the idea of Laughter Yoga 11-years ago. He claims laughter has a strong effect on the immune system.
"Laughter is like an aerobic exercise, it increases the net supply of oxygen to your brain and body," Dr. Kataria said.
Jeffery Briar teaches a Laughter Yoga class in Laguna Beach, California. He says laughing is a great way to relieve stress.
"You can come from not feeling good at all. You can have no sense of humor, you can feel depressed or miserable, but if you just laugh as a form of exercise your body responds with the physiological chemistry of really laughing, of joy, of happiness.” Briar said.
When you are feeling that good, Briar says, it does not matter if anyone is telling a joke the laughter is still contagious.
