Lisa Bell, Know Your Numbers

With the holidays upon us, life can get stressful, but did you know Americans spend $4 billion a year to get rid of headaches?

That is a lot of aspirin, but preventing your headache is free. So here are the 5 most common headache triggers you can watch out for.

1. Stress

Experts say meditating can help ease tension.

2. Headache-Trigger Foods

Try to avoid foods like caffeine, red wine and citrus.

3. Eye Strain

Strain on your eyes can cause headaches. Take breaks from your computer, or consider seeing an eye doctor.

4. Sitting For Long Periods

Staying seated for long periods can tighten muscles and cause tension headaches.

5. Sleep

You can get a headache from not getting enough sleep, or even getting too much.
