There is an easy way to lose a pound a week.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and plenty of deserts. We all loved Thanksgiving, but we hate what it does to our waist.

So today's number is 3,500, that's how many extra calories you need to burn each week to shed one pound.

Despite what you might think, losing weight is not a mystery.  To lose one pound you must burn 3,500 calories over and above what you're already burning during your daily activities.

That may sound impossible but think of it this way.

If you consume 500 fewer calories a day, in one week you'll shed one pound.
You might try cutting out the soda, walking during lunch breaks, and trade watching TV for yoga.

It's also a good idea to use a food journal to keep track of what you eat and what you burn and when you reduce your calories by 500 a day, the pounds will melt away.
