Coke Zero 400 Notebook: Wednesday
Wednesday, July 01, 2009 11:45:06 PM
DAYTONA BEACH -- On Wednesday, a judge lifted the suspension of NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield.
NASCAR indefinitely suspended Mayfield on May 9 after he tested positive for methamphetamines.
However, his attorneys said their client has never shown any characteristics of using meth and never had the chance to get his backup sample tested.
It's still not clear if he will race in the Coke Zero 400 this weekend.
The favorite to win this year's race is last year's winner Kyle Busch.
In 17 starts this season, Busch has three wins, four top 5 finishes and six top 10s. He's also earned the pole position once.
Meanwhile, NASCAR announces that former drivers Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip are two of the 25 nominees for the first NASCAR Hall of Fame induction class.
NASCAR will announce all of the nominees Thursday night.
