Late night on Day Two we got a nice treat, our Rezolution Production president Jeff Brooks popped in at our Southport Park camp to check out our editing process. He’s on the right and Jeff Cook, our photographer is on the left. We are doing all our editing on a non-linear editing program – all on computers. It’s pretty cool and a little beyond my skills!
Next, that’s Bob Mindick from the kayak party doing his blog. There’s Beth Kelso from the Florida Trail Association, one of our kayakers- and the only other female on the trek. Some of our kayak team spotted a Barred Owl in a tree near the camp. He wasn’t afraid of us and let of snap away. Josh, our sound guy took those pictures.
And on to day three. I got up before my alarm went off and looked out my tent door – there was the day getting up too! On our way out there were some Bald Eagles hanging out in these trees, of course I am not a camera genius so they could be anything, but I promise they are. In a couple of days I’ll get better shots as we pass through some of the more heavily populated Bald Eagle areas.
Our kayakers were waiting to go through the lock from Lake Toho to get to through the canal to Cypress Lake. We scooted ahead on our john boat to get a good shot, there’s Jeff Cook setting up the shot. We also got some video while the kayakers took a lunch break. Doug, one of the kayakers got a new nickname. When talking about our kayak clothing, he made the mistake of mentioning a co-worker said his shirt was “butter” and not yellow. Well, now his new trip name is Butter. See that little rubber rat on Bob Mindick’s kayak? That’s the rat kayakers Ian Brown and Mike Jones put on my tent – and I squealed like a girl. Now it’s his gator attractor.
When we got to Cypress Lake campground, we set up our sound guy Josh’s six-man tent for a make-shift office. It worked great because we are at a campsite with RV’s and only two picnic tables for all the crew. Josh said when he put the tent up in the garage for a Christmas present, his kids walked into the garage and came out cheering. Thanks to Josh’s kids for letting us borrow it. Another shower tonight at the campsite – so we are soaking it up. In a couple of days, we’ll be using the wet wipes method.
