Joe Manno is on a mission to change the mindset of children. He
wants to keep them away from drugs, gangs, and violence.
Manno started his career in entertainment, appearing
in movies galore. After several movies, he quickly switched
gears.
The wacky, off-the-wall comedian made a pact with himself to
stay away from corrupt characters and only involve himself in
positive projects.
Today, he travels the country performing a stage show for
children he called "A Fighting Chance." Thousands of
students at Hard Rock Live turned out for the show.
The show encourages children to take the right road in life by
staying away from drugs, gangs, and violence.
Back in 2002, he put his passion on paper and created a book
series for kids. Free copies of the book are handed out at all of
his live shows. Teachers say students love the book, and his
show.
Glorida Mitchell from Hamilton Elementary School said, "The
lesson is the same. It's something the students take, they hide
it within themselves and we see it come out day after
day."
One day, Manno hopes these students will remember his message
and think twice when they make decisions.
