Scott Fais, Your Home
If you're looking to take a little of the coast and incorporate it into your home, we have some ideas.
From surfboard shaped mirrors to prints from the shore, furniture and art wholesaler Peter Misseldine said the shore has some lore.
"Tropical decor is what sells," Misseldine said.
Misseldine sells accent pieces to local furniture stores. He expects surfboard tables and mirrors to never go out of style, while the hottest thing flying off the walls floats a lot of people's boats.
"It's called a gallery wrap," Misseldine said.
If you take a close look, you'll notice that it is not a real shutter. It is a picture from photographer Steve Vaughn.
Misseldine said: "They're called the Giclée. That is the fancy French name for them."
The new trend in artwork borrows a page from old fashioned photography. Vaughn uses a film-based camera to take a picture. Then they'll take the negative and scan it into a computer. The result is an enlarged picture that is stretched on canvas around a wooden frame.
"With the digital technology, we're able to enhance them a little bit." According to Misseldine, colors can be changed and objects can be moved that are not wanted in the picture.
The realism and clarity is stunning. But these pretty pictures cost a pretty penny.
Misseldine said the pictures retail for around $300, while the mirror costs $299.
At least you could see your reflection as you "wipe-out" your wallet.
