If you want to know what's new in gardening or just get some great gardening ideas, News 13's Tom MacCubbin has just the spot -- the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.
MacCubbin talked with horticulturist Debbie Mola-Mickler about the festival.
MacCubbin: "Lots of things going on and you're in charge of lots of the speaking activities?"
Mola-Mickler: "Yeah. During the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival we put seminars on, so we have people from all over the United States coming to speak, and also our own Disney horticulturists."
MacCubbin: "It's a lot of fun even just seeing the crowds out there and we have all of this great color in back of us. How many great flowers do we have out there?"
Mola-Mickler: "Well in the nautical flag display we have over 75,000 bedding flowers and plants."
MacCubbin: "And of course, we have the floating gardens down here."
Mola-Mickler: "Yes. We produce the floating gardens each spring to put them out and then once the festival is over we'll take them back to the nursery and replant them for next year."
MacCubbin: "Lots of color here in the beds, and also up ahead -- a butterfly garden area."
Mola-Mickler: "Yes. Guests can walk in and interact with the butterflies. The butterflies fly around on all the plants and we also have chrysalis on display for the guests to see. There's also a children's garden in Germany, and also a dynamite garden features vegetables."
MacCubbin: "I'm gonna ask you what is the one thing that I shouldn't miss?"
Mola-Mickler: "Well, my favorite probably is the seminars."
One of those hosts of those seminars is News 13's MacCubbin, who will be the Great American Gardeners presenter on Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 2, 3 and 4.
If you want to get some great gardening ideas, you have until June 3 to visit the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.
