Disney's newest Princess has officially arrived. Monday Princess Tiana made her first appearance at the Magic Kingdom. She was greeted at Cinderella’s Castle by Mickey and Minnie and the entire Disney gang.
After her big debut Princess Tiana rode down Main Street U.S.A. to greet the rest of the crowd awaiting her arrival.
Tiana is bringing a new look to Disney's princess lineup as the first African-American princess, and she's giving young girls a new idea of Disney royalty.
"I have to image that it is just beyond thrilling for them. She is a great character, she's inspiring, she's smart, she's strong. I think that's wonderful, not only for young African-American girls but for young girls," said Disney Show Director Tara Anderson.
"There are a lot of young African-American women that don't have great role models as well and Disney has always been very good at creating ideas for people to really understand and believe that they can be," said Nathan Morris, member of R&B group Boys II Men. Morris brought his family to see Tiana's debut.
Beginning Monday you can bring the whole family and they can come meet and greet Disney's newest Princess.
Guests can also enjoy and partake in 'Tiana's Showboat Jubillee', a nine minute musical performace in the river between Frontierland and Tom Sawyer Island. The show takes place three times daily and 20 guests from the park are chosen to ride on the boat and take part in the show.
You can catch Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen when "The Princess and The Frog" hits theaters on Dec. 11.
