ORLANDO -- The Nelson twins are back on stage in Orlando, honoring the legacy of their father, Rick Nelson.
The blonde haired duo will perform at Epcot's Flower Power Concert Series. This year the concert features the sounds from the 1960s and '70s under the skies of Epcot's open-air America Gardens Theater.
In the early 1990s, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson garnished mainstream success, known for their long blonde locks and songs like "Only Time Will Tell," and "Love and Affection."
The Nelsons come from a musically gifted past. They are the sons of Rick Nelson, and the grandsons of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson.
The brothers have captured three top 10 singles on the Billboard charts, four No. 1 MTV music videos and five international No. 1 hits.
News 13's John Handiboe caught up with Nelson as they got ready for their three-day series of shows in Central Florida.
John Handiboe: Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, welcome back to Orlando.
Matthew and Gunnar Nelson: Thank you, John.
Matthew: It is good to be back here. This is like a tradition for us. We get to come back to Epcot; this is our sixth year. It's real popular thing with our fans. We have people coming from all over the place, and they come and watch us play shows. This show, in particular, is primarily a tribute to our father, Rick Nelson, and his legacy. We also get to play some of our songs and have a great time.
Gunnar: I think the original intention was to feature artists from the '60s and '70s, but it's actually grown over the last eight years. I think it is two and a half months solid of musicians coming in and making people happy.
John: You guys started your career in the early '90s.
Matthew: Correct. We are hair band survivors.
John: What happened to the hair?
Matthew: I was just going to say the same thing, John.
Gunnar: Yeah, John. What happened? (laughing) We gave it to Locks of Love. We figured after being the world champion hair farmers of all time, that it was just time to cut the hair.
John: And you also shed some pounds as well.
Gunnar: Yes, I was on "Celebrity Fit Club."
Matthew: Now a reality television survivor.
Gunnar: They paid me to work out. What a great gig. It was good. They just called. I have an identical twin, so I always have someone who I am compared to all the time. So the manager called me up and said, "How would you like to be on 'Celebrity Fit Club'? At first, I said 'How about finding another job?' but, after thinking about it, it was just a great opportunity, and I kind of took it for what it was, which was -- it was all about attitude, and like I said, they paid me to work out, and since then I have had a lot of people come up and say they have seen the show, and they were inspired. That makes everything worth while.
Nelson will be on stage at Epcot April 1-3. There are three shows each day, at 5:45 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m..
