Former *NSYNC member Lance Bass was in Winter Park Saturday night promoting his new book: "Out of Sync."
Central Florida on Demand's John Handiboe sat down one-on-one with the boy band member to chat about the book and the sex allegations surrounding his former boss Lou Pearlman.
It was a year ago that Bass publicly came out of the closet on the cover of "People" magazine.
"I have green eyes. I happen to be gay. There are a lot of things that make you up, but everyone is fascinated with sexuality for some reason," Bass told Handiboe.
Hundreds of fans lined the Borders bookstore in Winter Park to snag a copy of his new book, grab an autograph and snap a picture.
Bass calls his book, "Out of Sync," a memoir which candidly reveals the private side of his life.
"Well, basically I wrote this book mainly from the coming-out process. I wanted to give a story, a positive story, to those, maybe, who can relate with my situation of growing up in the South with a very religious family," Bass said.
Bass and the rest of the guys of *NSYNC launched their careers in Orlando. Lou Pearlman was the man behind the music. Pearlman now sits in the Orange County jail facing fraud charges.
"No, it doesn't surprise me it all. It sucks because he could have had something good here in Orlando. He just took advantage and got greedy," Bass said.
There are the formal charges surrounding that greed, but also allegations of inappropriate sexual encounters with former boy band members.
"No, I never felt any uncomfortableness around Lou," Bass said.
Lance said he never witnessed inappropriate touching or lewd behavior, but admitted he found Pearlman "odd."
"Well, you can just tell, you know, he was ... I mean, I knew I was gay when I was 16, when I was 5 years old. So, something told me that he might me be also. I just figured out he was gay," Bass said.
The mother of Nick Carter, a member of the Backstreet Boys, who Pearlman also managed, has made sex allegations against Pearlman. However, no formal complaint was ever filed against Pearlman and no formal charges have been made.
