Three Westgate employees found a severely abused, 7-year-old boy wandering in a Westgate parking lot in November.

The boy was disoriented and had visible injuries.

Westgate's Hilda Barrios first spotted the boy, while fellow employees Steve Seigel and Humberto Garcia called for help.

The 7-year-old had been left in a vehicle by two adults. He was severely underweight, at just 37 pounds, and had lacerations, burns and head trauma.

The boy also said that his parents had tied him to a wall in their home.

The boy was placed in the care of the Department of Children and Families, and his parents were arrested.

The Department of Children and Families also presented Westgate's employees with a plaque honoring them for their quick and decisive action.

Meanwhile, Westgate employees began collecting clothes and other items for the boy, and planned some activities for him once he has fully recovered.

That is why Westgate's employees are our Central Floridians of the Week.
