Three Osceola high school students are being called heroes and so they are News 13's Central Floridians of the week.
This month, Josh Cosme, 17, Josh Randall, 16, and Mariah Hutchinson, were riding on a school bus, headed to Celebration High School.
The driver, 49-year-old Kenneth Baker, lost consciousness, causing the bus to swerve and hit nearby embankments, nearly tipping over.
But as News 13's Lisa Bell shows us, that is when the trio sprang into action.
The teens kept their school bus from crashing on the highway after Baker had a seizure behind the wheel.
"He was just sitting in a really awkward position and we didn't know what was going on," Randall said.
The bus began to swerve and hit nearby embankments, nearly tipping over.
"Everyone was panicking and screaming and no one had gotten up," Hutchinson said.
The three teens took action -- grabbing the wheel, pumping the breaks and eventually steering everyone on board to safety.
"I have one rule -- just stop the bus," Cosme said.
In the end, the driver, along with these three students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The kids said they are just glad everyone is OK.
"I wouldn't call us heroes. We were just concerned with everyone on the bus," Randall said.
None of these kids had a driver's license, but yet they were driven to take over and save lives.
