Tiffany Greene, Building Community
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida is one of the major insurance providers in Florida, and in an interest to keep all Floridians healthy, the company's foundation is giving a big boost to health care agencies.
There's a lot of talk on the presidential campaign trail about health care and providing services for the uninsured and underserved. That issue is weighing heavy on the minds of many Americans.
In Florida, 3.8 million people do not have insurance. In Seminole County, the Health Council of East Central Florida says help is on the way.
The organization was awarded a $50,000 grant by the Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida, an affiliate of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.
The money will provide outreach, health education and case management services to uninsured residents of Seminole County. It will be used to hire staff and personnel for the Seminole County health navigator program.
