There's a familiar expression that says we are only as strong as our weakest link. For one Brevard County family, their medical issues are making their physical body weak, but as News 13's Tiffany Greene explains, their community is helping their spirit to stay strong.

Two children in the Robinson family -- Johnathan and Je'ja -- have sickle cell anemia.

It is a serious disease in which red blood cells are shaped abnormally, making it harder for them to move through the blood stream.  It can be very painful and extremely taxing on the wallet.  But now the Robinson family sees relief is in sight.

"It's really painful and you miss school a lot and you go to the hospital most of the time," Johnathan said.

The teacher of a community involvement class wanted to help the Robinson family with medical expenses, so the class organized a very big garage sale to help raise money for them.

"A lot of times you feel like nobody cares and nobody can empathize or sympathize with what you're going through.  Events like this makes you feel as if somebody really cares other than you," said Jonte Robinson, the children's father.

"She was so involved in another project last year when we got money for a little girl who had leukemia and then I found out that their children were sick," said Robin Campbell about Faith Robinson, Johnathan and Je'ja's mother.

"It's very, very overwhelming to see so much stuff just for you and your family.  We're just ordinary people going through what we consider to be our ordinary life," Faith said.

Like her name, Faith always believed in doing good for others. As a wife, mother of three and student at Brevard Community College, that good fortune is now directed at her and her family.
