The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida has to distribute 150 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables to those in need because of a very generous donation

Produce and floral suppliers from all over the country donated over 300,000 pounds of food during the Produce Marketing Associations annual convention in Orlando.

It took over 200 food bank volunteers to collect all the goods.

"It’s the largest single produce donation in the country ever, so it's never been done,” said Jim Stencel, the CEO of the Second Harvest Food Bank. “That's the tremendous thing about this situation.  And to have this come into Central Florida at this time, especially with the economic situation that we're in, it is great."

The donation will benefit individuals across the state of Florida.

Officials with Second Harvest believe this single donation could provide fresh produce for over 50,000 people.
