The 504th Airborne Parachute Infantry Regiment Unit and the 173rd ABCT Task Force Saber are serving our country proudly in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Rollins College lacrosse teams wanted the troops to know just how proud they are of them.

"We're the same age as a lot of the troops over there, and they like to hear our e-mails and our letters that we send them about what we're doing in life -- you know, young people active, and just thinking about them as well," said Andrew Cohen, a lacrosse player at Rollins.

"We feel very lucky to be healthy athletes, and we feel like we have to give back to the community one way or another," said Rollins men's lacrosse coach Andrew Baxter. "This is a great opportunity to help people who are fighting for us."

The Tars enlisted in Americans Support Americans' Adopt-A-Unit program. They have boxed up donations collected from local Albertson's and CVS stores, and sending over care packages to the troops.

"Everything from food, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant -- anything you can think of -- toilet paper, magazines, books," Baxter said.

The Tars men's and women's lacrosse teams have not even hit the field, but already they are displaying teamwork.

"More than anything, we're learning a lot about each other, which is very important with a team. Just like this, communication, having a good time and just collaborating together," Cohen said.

To be a team, a unit, a company of one.
