DAYTONA BEACH -- “You can’t get something for nothing.” That’s what we’ve all been told.
But that’s not always true.
Following up a successful post-Super Bowl promotion in 2009, Denny’s served free breakfast Tuesday for the second straight year.
Denny’s gave away their Grand Slam breakfast to everyone who showed up at their restaurants from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
If you missed it, don’t worry. Many Denny’s locations are taking part in a promotion to give out free Grand Slams on your birthday this year.
The breakfast includes two pancakes, two eggs, and either two sausage links or two slices of bacon -- a suggested retail price of about $6. Drinks are not included.
Denny’s gave away two million of its Grand Slam breakfast platters in 2009. The promotion raised awareness of the chain nationwide, and the company hopes to strike magic twice.
The staff at the Denny’s on International Speedway Boulevard said they expected to be extra busy Tuesday, especially thanks to the Speedweeks crowds in town.
Besides the free birthday breakfast promotion, the chain is also offering free burgers and fries to the first 500,000 people to join the Denny’s Rewards program.
Signing up now also enters you for a chance to win a free Grand Slam meal a week for an entire year. That’s 52 free breakfasts.
